Ruben Loftus-CheekMilan midfielder, spoke exclusively to The Straits TimesSingapore newspaper, one of the most authoritative English newspapers of the Far East, where Milan is expected for the summer tour.
The former Chelsea started talking about the new Top Player teammate, Luka Modric: “I have played against him a few times. He is a golden ball, not many to be able to say it. He is a very strong footballer, he had a top career and have that type of experience in the team and the quality of the player, he will give a lot to the team. I am very happy to welcome him here and to know him also as a person, because he is one that all the players take as an example, for the way he managed to stay at the top for so much time”.
Mister Allegri immediately had sweet words for him: “He is knowing the other players on a personal level and is developing the relationship with everyone, but he can be seen as he works, he is very intense. He has won so many things, so many trophies in the past that it cannot be done without looking at what he has done and having enormous respect”.
Loftus-Cheek, after a difficult season, seeks redemption: “Two years, two seasons in Serie A and in Italy, football is slightly different, is more tactical. The way of playing some teams here is different from what I faced in the Premier League. But this is why Serie A is unique and it is a challenge every season. It is a very tough championship and is really having fun. I can’t wait to start this new season, to see what we can do”.
Hoping, perhaps, in the call to the national team for the 2026 World Cup: “Potentially, but it is not at the top of my thoughts. A good season could help me get there, but I have to evaluate the game by game. Every day we work without stopping in training and we make sure we can perform. If all goes well, it will be resolved on its own”.
