Figure skater Kamila Valieva, 19, allegedly broke up with her boyfriend, ice hockey player Nikita Nesterov, 33.
This is reported by a Russian online magazine Mashwhich is cited by, among others, Sport24 website and a women’s magazine Lady Mail.
Valieva and Nesterov’s relationship first hit the headlines a little over a year ago. The couple’s age difference in particular spoke volumes in Russia.
Now the sports couple is said to have had bad disagreements.
– They had a violent argument, the Lady Mail website updates.
According to Mash, Nesterov lost his temper when arguing with the figure skater. The relationship ended there.
Valiyeva liked a publication on social media with a bitter text referring to the breakup.
– Dating a 34-year-old man is fun until you understand why he’s still single at 34, the publication read.
Until this winter, Nesterov served as the captain of the KHL club Moscow TsSKA. According to Mash, after the divorce, he went back to his hometown Chelyabinsk, and may move to the city’s ice hockey team, Traktor, in the summer.
Valieva, freed from her doping ban, is one of Vladimir Putin’s favorite athletes. The teenage girl “got” to sit next to the president in the VIP box, for example, at the opening of the sports games organized in Kazan in 2024.
Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin expressed at the time that Valiyeva is under Putin’s “protection”.
