Allegation of drug possession: investigations against the President of Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht President Peter Fischer has to answer for the purchase and possession of cocaine. Prosecutors have also launched investigations into Fischer’s wife and adult son.

The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt has initiated investigations against Eintracht President Peter Fischer for illegal acquisition and possession of cocaine. The authority confirmed this to the hr on Monday. Fischer’s wife and 25-year-old son are also being investigated.

13-year-old son is said to have consumed cocaine

The origin of the investigation was that Fischer’s 13-year-old son is said to have consumed cocaine with a friend at school. The friend’s mother had noticed a change in her son’s behavior and then informed the school and the police.

The public prosecutor’s office then had Fischer’s apartment searched at the end of January. A sniffer dog found cocaine residues on the bedside table of the Eintracht President. Fischer, his wife and adult son are said to have kept the drugs in such a way that the 13-year-old had access. The further investigations must show what is true of the allegations.

Hellmann says nothing, Glasner does

Eintracht board spokesman Axel Hellmann did not want to comment on the investigation against Fischer for the time being. “I won’t say anything about it, not as a friend, not as a member and not as a club official,” said Hellmann on Monday at the sidelines of a press conference on the “Unity in the Region” campaign of Hesse.

Shortly thereafter, coach Oliver Glasner found a few words at the press conference before the DFB Cup game against Darmstadt 98. “If someone is not doing so well, you need someone to stand by you,” said the Austrian. “That’s why he has the most support from all of us at the club. Everything else is not our concern.” Glasner is certain that the scandal surrounding the president will have no effect on Eintracht’s sporting performance.

“Clean sport should also apply to officials”

The Odenwald member of parliament and deputy chairman of the sports committee of the Bundestag, Philip Kramer (Greens), demanded: “Should the allegations come true, Peter Fischer is unacceptable as president and should make his office available.” As President, Fischer has a “special responsibility, also as a role model for young adults”.

Especially for the many children and young people in the Eintracht teams, “the use of drugs is normalized by this incident,” criticized the former state chairman of the Hessian Greens. “Clean sport should not only apply to athletes, but also to officials.”
