The Allah-Las return to Germany. Presented by MUSIKEXPRESS, the band plays two concerts in Oldenburg and Leipzig.
As part of their EU tour 2026, Allah-Las will come to the Kulturetage Oldenburg on September 8th and at the UT Connewitz in Leipzig on September 9th. Tickets will be available from Friday, February 20th at 12 p.m. at all known ticket offices.
Between California and wanderlust: The sound of the Allah-Las
Since their founding, the Allah-Las have stood for a sound that combines sun-drenched melodies with psychedelic depth. Surf elements meet folk, plus influences from different regions of the world. The result is music that sounds as much like the Californian coast as it does dusty desert landscapes.
The band – consisting of Matt Correia (drums), Spencer Dunham (bass), Miles Michaud (guitar, vocals) and Pedrum Siadatian (guitar, vocals) – has established itself over several albums as a stylistically independent force between retro aesthetics and global openness.
ZUMA 85: Departure beyond familiar horizons
ZUMA 85 is the Los Angeles band’s fifth and still current studio album, released in 2023 on the independent label Innovative Leisure. The title alludes to the beach of the same name in Malibu and thus refers to the Southern California aesthetic that is deeply rooted in the band. Musically, Allah-Las are in familiar territory on this album: psychedelic surf rock, carried by warm guitar melodies, reverb-soaked vocals and a dreamy, almost timeless sound. The production sounds deliberately retro without seeming nostalgic and cliched – more like a natural extension of an attitude to life that the group has consistently cultivated since their debut in 2012.
Compared to previous releases, ZUMA 85 seems a bit more relaxed and introspective in some places, almost meditative. The songs invite you to drift along, take a long trip along the coast or stare mindlessly at the sea – images that are hard to avoid with Allah-Las, but which seem particularly appropriate here.
Global influences, hypnotic live atmosphere
Live, their songs develop their special pull. Velvety harmonies, relaxed grooves and detailed arrangements characterize the band’s concerts. The Allah-Las combine nostalgic vintage charm with rhythmic precision and a noticeable openness to new influences. The current shows tie in with the band’s self-image as musical travelers: Instead of simply staging Los Angeles as a place of longing, they see their origins as a starting point for an ongoing movement.
