Pizzeria Sphinx from Cuijk was at a loss on Tuesday: the tires of two delivery vans were all punctured. According to the pizzeria, it has happened often enough that company buses have been targets of vandalism. Anyone with the golden tip is even promised a thousand euros.

‘Anger’ and ‘uncertainty’ is how co-owner Aydin Yamaner describes what went through his mind when he found the flat tires. A self-described ‘considerate citizen’ came to tell the news personally. “It’s not the first time this has happened,” he says.

A window has been smashed twice before and a few tires have also been deliberately loose. “It is the first time that it has happened in such large numbers,” says Aydin about all eight punctured tires of the two buses.

The family business has existed since 2007 and moved to the Grotestraat business in 2015. The company buses are parked a little further away in a public parking lot. What is striking, according to the co-owner: “We have a total of three vans, one of which has no advertising. Nothing ever happens to that van.”

Possibly targeting company vans
At first, the family had no idea why their vans were always targeted. Yet Aydin now thinks that there is a vandal who is targeting company vans. “Two tires of vans from a daycare center in the area were also punctured.”

The co-owner says he has been actively working on it. “We have filed a report and notified the municipality.”

In the hope of tracking down the perpetrator, Pizzeria Sphinx posted a message on Facebook. The golden tipster receives a large reward, because they are promised a thousand euros. “I hope that the golden tip will still come in, but I have little confidence in it anymore.”

Post shared a hundred times
The message has now been shared a hundred times and has generated several reactions. People talk about that, among other things, as ‘shame’. There are also people who write that people are driving too fast.

The pizzeria had to improvise on Tuesday to be able to deliver all the pizzas. Yet the tires were replaced the same day. As a precaution, the vans are still parked at the house. “After the incident, we still park the vans in front of our door at home.”
