While all decisions are open in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga shortly before the end of the season, some classes have already been clarified. The lack of tension now has financial reasons.
All direct relegations are already certain in the Regionalliga West: 1. FC Düren will no longer be represented in the league in the coming season. The reason for this is the opening of insolvency proceedings, as a result of which the club has withdrawn its application for admission for the next season. This was confirmed by the West German Football Association.
Previously, Turkspor Dortmund and the KFC Uerdingen had already withdrawn due to their bankruptcies. Now the third and last relegation is officially determined with Düren. The club continued the game despite financial difficulties, but had slipped to a relegation zone after a nine-point deduction.
The team, which was put together at short notice, has two games ahead of them this season. Düren meets Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Eintracht Hohkeppel.
Since the MSV Duisburg has already made it clear to the climb, three game days before the end have made practically all decisions. Only those who occupy the relegation place 15 on which Hohkeppel is currently located is still open.
However, there is a restriction: If a West representative descends from the 3rd league, this would lead to four instead of the three direct relegations from the Regionalliga West.
There are still three games to be completed in League three, the BVB II is most at risk in view of only three points ahead of the first relegation rank. It is unlikely that Alemannia Aachen, given the seven points ahead or Rot-Weiss Essen (9 points lead).
