At the 2024 European Handball Championship, the DHB selection with captain Johannes Golla has to compete in the preliminary round against the teams from Switzerland, North Macedonia and France. The German team wants to surprise as outsiders at the home European Championship.

Main round
The first two teams in each preliminary group move into the main round with four games. Vice European champions Spain, Iceland and Croatia, among others, could be waiting for Germany there.
Germany can only meet world champions Denmark, defending champions Sweden or co-favorites Norway in the semi-finals on January 26th at the earliest.
