Alkmaar seems to realize that a lively city center is not self-evident these days. While Wouter van der Leij had to complete the job three days a week, Denise Seidenstiker and Karin Kalverboer were both given four days a week.
Kalverboer is the former owner of fondue restaurant De Fransman aan de Mient. She knows many entrepreneurs in Alkmaar and wants to improve contact between entrepreneurs and Alkmaar Marketing.
You cannot solve the vacancy problem in three months
Denise Seidenstiker was born in Schagen, but has lived in Alkmaar since she was four. She brings a backpack full of retail experience to her new position. Denise was a store manager in Alkmaar for a number of years and later worked in the management of clothing brand G-Star.
In her new position she hopes to contribute to a more beautiful city center. But Denise also knows that you cannot solve the vacancy within three months. “I think Alkmaar is very beautiful, but the part around the Laat tackles is number 1,” she says.
As a city center director, she thinks she can get much more out of Alkmaar. “I hope that people from the region will come here for a day out. And not drive to Haarlem or Amsterdam,” says Denise.
