Alfa-Bank is operating normally, despite the imposition of sanctions by the European Union due to the military operation in Ukraine, RBC was told in the press service of the credit institution.

According to representatives of Alfa-Bank, the restrictions did not affect payments with Visa and Mastercard cards, which, as before, can be made worldwide. Currency transfers go through without restrictions, and the mobile application and bank branches work as usual.

“The only limitation is that the bank will temporarily not be able to issue new Eurobonds or place share issues. But Alfa-bank is a non-public company, so restrictions on the issue of shares, in fact, do not apply to the company,” the press service said.

On the night of February 26, the European Union imposed sanctions against some Russian companies and four banks, among which was Alfa-Bank. EU citizens and institutions have been banned from buying, selling, as well as investing and conducting any transactions with securities issued after April 12, 2022, if Alfa-Bank is involved in the transaction.
