Alexander Zverev does not yet have a Grand Slam title. So that it works in Wimbledon, he might have to pass his fear opponent.
Germany’s best tennis player Alexander Zverev threatens to meet again in Wimbledon with Taylor Fritz. Germany’s number one last lost five times in a row against the American-including a few weeks ago in the Stuttgart final. In Wimbledon, Zverev could now meet Fritz in the quarter -finals.
In the draw for the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, the world ranking in third was drawn into the lower half of the tableau. There could then lead to a duel with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals. The Spaniard had won the French Open only a few weeks ago.
At the start of the tournament on Monday, Zverev initially meets Arthur Rinderknech. The Frenchman is currently number 70 in the world. It will be the first meeting of the two. The game is already on the first day of the tournament.
In addition to Fritz, the Russian Daniil Medvedev is one of the possible opponents in the quarter -finals. So far, Zverev has never got beyond the round of 16 in Wimbledon. In the upper half of the tableau, the Italian Jannik Sinner is set as number one.
Only three German tennis men take part in Wimbledon this year-as few as last in 1983. In addition to Zverev, Daniel Altmaier and Jan-Lennard Struff are also at the start. Altmaier meets the Canadian Gabriel Diallo in the first round, Struff plays against the Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic. All three Germans have feasible tasks at the start.
