Harri Heliövaara and Lloyd Glasspool knocked down a pair in the opening round of the Acapulco ATP500 tournament doubles Marcelo Melo/Alexander Zverev.

Matsi only settled through a match-tie break, and Heliövaara and Glasspool were able to win a 2–1 win (6–2, 4–6, 10–6).

– Pretty hard scalps were put on the belt with Lloyd again today, when the former number one in the third and four of the world of doubles were defeated after a great match. The first and third installments were a great game for us, so the first main series win of the career in the ATP500 race tastes sweet, Heliövaara wrote in his blog.

The match-tie break saw a heating up of emotions for Melo and especially Zverev. The German player lost his temper due to the return of Heliövaara, who brought in a 9-6 lead.

After the match, Zverev completely lost his temper and aggressively beat the referee’s chair with his racket.

– You destroyed the whole fucking match. Throughout the match, Zverev shouted at the referee.

The behavior of the German player was so threatening that he was also thrown out of the tournament doubles.

– The end of the match really got a pretty nasty turn, when Zverev burned the surface worse once, Heliövaara commented on the incident on his blog.

In the semi-finals, Heliövaara and Glasspool will receive the winners of the match Jamie Murray/Bruno SoaresNikola Cacic/Tomislav Brkic.

– Brkic / Cacic is a familiar pair from the final of the Moscow race last fall, but maybe even more of us and Lloyd would be interested in the revenge of the Murray / Soares pair. The Australian Open did have a bit of a toothache.

Murray and Soares dropped Heliövaara and Glasspool in the second round of the Australian Open with a 2-1 win.
