Alcides falls in the final phase, Hoogeveen sees competitor lose points

FOOTBALL – In the main division A of Sunday football, Meppeler Alcides unfortunately lost to TOGB (3-2), while the numbers 2 and 3 in the standings, Be Quick 1887 and SJC kept each other at 1-1 in Noordwijk. As a result, the margin of leader Hoogeveen on the pursuers is three and four points.

Alcides was unable to give a good follow-up to the strong and well-deserved 5-2 victory over Alphense Boys last Sunday in Berkel en Rodenrijs. Without trainer Wilko Niemer (he was missing due to corona), Alcides brutally took the lead thanks to a goal from Sil Kuurman. Then TOGB insisted, but the new number 6 in this main division missed three good chances. A few minutes before the break, the (deserved) equalizer came after all. Sven Paternot was knocked down by Ryan Luyckx in Alcides’ sixteen and the awarded penalty was used by Guus Steerneman: 1-1. Still, Alcides came into a promising position in the absolute final phase, but Marnix Jager saw his effort go past.

Relinquished the lead again

The Meppelers took the lead again in the sixth minute after the break from a nice counterattack. Nick Kuiper was able to score after good preparatory work by Kuurman. But just like before the break, Alcides was unable to hold onto the lead. Via Max le Fevre, the home team equalized.

The absolute final phase was exciting and exciting. Both teams played for the win. So he eventually went to the home club. Again it was Max le Fevre who scored.

Alcides remains tenth

Due to the defeat, Alcides is stuck in place 10 in the A major league, with 18 points from 15 games. The gap to the danger zone is three points.
