Albert Verlinde cannot return to Today Inside for the time being, because he says he is still under contract with RTL 4 for quite some time. “And then we will look further.”
It was a huge error of judgment on the part of Albert Verlinde (64): in his old age he had an influential TV spot as René van der Gijp’s regular substitute on the Wednesday evening of Today Inside. Due to ego issues – he did not feel recognized enough by Talpa – he switched to the completely failed RTL Tonight.
Albert responds
There is a good chance that the plug will be pulled from RTL Tonight, and according to Victor Vlam, the big question is whether Albert can still return to VI. Yes, thinks Victor Vlam. But according to Albert himself, that is not the case at all.
Even if RTL Tonight stops, Albert is still stuck with the failed late evening of RTL 4. “What I think is very important to say: if you are part of a program where people work so hard day in, day out – and I am one of the faces of RTL Tonight – then I think you should continue with that team,” he says in Super guide.
“I’m not saying anything!”
Albert does not want to say anything at all about the possibility of returning to VI or not. If you work for a competitor, “it’s not really appropriate to talk about other programs at all,” says the show expert.
VI doesn’t have to call for the time being. “I still have a contract with the channel for another year and a half. So for the time being I am still with RTL. (…) And then we will look further.”
