Alba Berlin has once again positioned itself for the playoffs in the Baskeball Euroleague. On Friday, Israel Gonzalez’s team won 74:70 (37:35) against Red Star Belgrade, their direct competitor in the race for the finals. As eleventh in the table, Alba has at least the theoretical chance of a playoff spot.

Towering over Maodo Lo

The Berliners initially had problems finding their offensive rhythm. Thanks to good defensive work, the hosts got into the game better and better in the middle of the first quarter. With a 10:1 run, Alba was able to pull away to 24:15.

In the second period, Red Star then defended more intensively and came back up. In the final phase of an exciting game, the Albatrosses were able to pull away with five points. The visitors came close again, but Luke Sikma converted two free throws with 22 seconds to go.

Maodo Lo, who contributed 22 points to the success, had the greatest share in the Berlin home win.
