Alba impressively extends winning streak

The basketball players from Alba Berlin are unstoppable. The German champions and cup winners beat the Greek top club Olympiacos Piraeus in the EuroLeague after a strong performance surprisingly clearly with 90:75 (37:30), it was already the ninth win in a row across all competitions. The best thrower at the Bundesliga team was national player Maodo Lo with 27 points.

“Maodo won the game for us today,” said national team colleague Johannes Thiemann on “MagentaSport”: “We have a run, the throws are a little easier. We wanted it more, we were very physical.” Lo said: “It’s a big win for us.”

The Berliners lost for the last time on February 4th at CSKA Moscow (72:91), after that they had four wins in the Bundesliga, two in the Top Four tournament on the way to the cup triumph and three in the EuroLeague. Thanks to the success, coach Israel Gonzalez’s team has eleven wins and 16 losses.

Alba’s record is well behind a play-off spot. However, since the Russian teams CSKA, Zenit St. Petersburg and UNICS Kazan are no longer allowed to play because of the Ukraine invasion, the leap into the quarter-finals is still possible.
