- Alba Berlin beat Bamberg Baskets 85:71 in the second semi-final
- The Berliners lead 2-0 in the series
- With a win on Thursday they would make it to the final
Alba Berlin has taken a big step towards the championship final of the Basketball Bundesliga. The Berliners also won their second semi-final game against the Bamberg Baskets with 85:71 (46:38) on Monday evening in front of 6,833 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle.
Alba is leading 2-0 in the best-of-five series and can make the final in Bamberg on Thursday (8:30 p.m.).
The best Berlin throwers were Martin Hermannsson with 18 and Jack Kayil with 17 points. At Bamberg, Cobe Williams scored 14 points.
From the start, both teams went to work with full intensity. The guests tried to stop the flow of Berlin’s game with more aggression. But Alba found solutions and let the ball run quickly through their own ranks. And there Bamberg – like on Saturday – Had problems making free throws, Alba took the lead from the middle of the first quarter. And it reached double digits for the first time in the middle of the second quarter (39:29).
Alba breaks away after the break
Even though Bamberg scored better afterwards and benefited from some Berlin mistakes, the hosts always found an answer. A goal from Hermannsson in the last second of the second quarter put Alba back in the lead at the break.
Bamberg continued to defend itself as best it could and the game became noticeably more hectic. But even after the break, Alba was the dominant force on the field. Again and again the guests got stuck in the Berlin cover.
At the start of the last quarter the lead had grown to 20 points (75:55). This meant the game was decided early on.
