A long -term contract is ready for Hato on Stamford Bridge. English media are talking about a commitment until the summer of 2032 or 2033. Technical director Alex Kroes initially demanded 55 to 60 million euros for the left -legged defender, making it clear that 50 million euros would suffice. But after the first bid of 40 million euros, the Londoners did not want to go beyond 41 million euros for the time being. That turned out to be insufficient for Ajax.

But given the not -rosy financial situation of the club, Ajax could not take the risk that Chelsea would cancel the deal, because who gives Ajax the guarantee that later on which club will be offered again over 40 million euros? Moreover, Hato himself indicated that he would like to go to Chelsea and Ajax needs the millions to strengthen John Heitinga’s selection. That is why on Wednesday evening an amount of 43 million euros was finally approved and a percentage of resale.

Ajax switches on to Ko Itakura

Ajax can continue with that. And Kroes is certainly not standing still in that regard. The TD focuses on Ko Itakura (28), the central defender of Borussia Mönchengladbach, who can handle as a left and right central defender. The Amsterdammers hope to be able to loosen him in Germany for an amount between eight and nine million euros. A personal agreement seems no problem, because director Voetbal Marijn Beuker in Osaka around the Japan-Indonesia international match has already done preliminary work and the Japanese would like to come to Ajax.
