Ajax in first match against Ludogorets without new purchases Akpom and Sutalo

During the first match against Bulgarian Ludogorets in the play-offs for the Europa League, Ajax must do without purchasing Chuba Akopom and Josip Sutalo. Both players are not yet registered with Uefa, the European football association. The team from Amsterdam could possibly register the duo for the return in Amsterdam.

Brand new Ajax player Sutalo, who was officially presented last night, has not yet been registered by the team from Amsterdam for Thursday’s game. Akpom is still awaiting a work permit and is therefore not allowed to play yet. The 27-year-old striker is from England and since the country has left the EU, he had to apply.

The new Danish right back Anton Gaaei has been registered by Ajax with the Uefa. Summer acquisitions Branco van den Boomen, Benjamin Tahirovic, Diant Ramaj, Jakov Medic and Carlos Forbs are also on the list. Steven Berghuis, who has been suspended for the first three Eredivisie matches after a hit against one FC Twente supportermay be released in Europe and is also registered.

In theory, Ajax may register the pair for next Thursday’s return, provided Akpom’s work permit has been arranged.

The match between Ludogorets and Ajax starts on Thursday at 8 p.m.
