FC Volendam is well on its way to promoting to the Eredivisie. If that succeeds then the club must replace the current artificial grass pitch with real grass. From the 2024 – 2025 season, this is mandatory by the KNVB. The costs to replace the field in the stadium and that of the training field amount to 1.2 million euros.
Right to exist
To finance that, the club has come up with an action. For 150 euros you buy a square meter of real grass for the club. The website of the Orange Shirts says that the promotion is not only about a new turf, but also about the right to exist of the club.
FC Volendam is wrong in financially heavy weather and lets you know that if they cannot finance the lawn that the money should come from the club itself. That means they have to make painful choices and they want to prevent that.
