It had been in the air for a while, but Ajax has just confirmed the transfer of Gerónimo Rulli. The Argentinian goalkeeper signs for 3.5 years in Amsterdam until mid-2026. There is an option for another season. It is still uncertain whether he will compete against NEC in Nijmegen on Sunday.
Ajax pays eight million euros for Rulli to Villareal. The transfer amount increases to a maximum of ten million through bonuses. The Argentinian still had a contract in Spain until 2024.

He made his debut with Estudiantes in 2013 and went on to play for Real Sociedad and Montepellier before moving on to Villareal. With that he won the Europa League in 2021. Rulli became world champion with Argentina in December as a reserve goalkeeper.
Ajax will play against NEC in Nijmegen on Sunday. The kick-off is at 2.30 pm.
