Ajax fans woke up this morning with a big smile. After yesterday in Eindhoven, the national title for the Amsterdam club is only a matter of time. With two Diehard supporters, NH Sport speaks on Museumplein. “This is one of the most beautiful places in the city.”

Enthusiastic and dressed in Ajax clothing, Laurens Out and Bart Elshof appear on the kicked down lawn between the Rijksmuseum and the Concertgebouw. The two fans of the Amsterdam club have seen the PSV – Ajax match in the pub. Elshof: “It was fun.”

Caution

With seven games to be played, Ajax is nine points ahead of competitor PSV. Yet nobody wants to speak within Ajax about a championship. This caution is mainly reflected in Francesco Farioli. The Italian trainer speaks of ‘Seven Games, Seven Battles, All Together’. Out: “I think it’s very clever how Fararian this team has sculpted.”

Despite the reluctance about the title, the duo likes to see the ceremony on the Museumplein. It is not a matter of course that this party takes place in the center of Amsterdam.

The last time in 2022 the festivities around the Johan Cruijff Arena took place. “The Leidseplein is eventually even better,” says Elshof. About twenty years ago he experienced that as a young Ajax fan. “Then I broke my ankle and can still remember that riots broke out and that I had to run on crutches for me.”

In addition to a lot of attention for Ajax in this NH Sport, we are also at the Zandvoort Circuit Run. Where normally the flashy cars crack over the asphalt in Zandvoort, this time there were around 18,000 runners. One of them was Richard Douma. With the top athlete from Zaandam we naturally made the comparison with Max Verstappen. “It’s not that I win everything.”
