Brobbey moved from Ajax to Leipzig on a free transfer last summer. The German club already announced the switch in March. Earlier attempts by Ajax to have him re-signed in Amsterdam had come to nothing.
Brobbey has not had much playing time at Leipzig so far. He has appeared in nine league games this season, having only been a regular player once. Brobbey has yet to score in the Bundesliga.
“Brian knows the club and knows what is asked of him here,” says Marc Overmars, director of football affairs at Ajax. “It was important for us that there was an extra attacker who could be deployed immediately and that is him. We are still playing on three fronts and we will need every player badly.”
