Ajax will take on the Italian Napoli tomorrow evening in the Champions League. After the 2-1 loss against Liverpool, a victory comes if you want to keep the prospect of wintering in the million-dollar ball.

“We absolutely have to perform better. Tomorrow is an excellent opportunity to improve ourselves. I have a lot of confidence in my own players. In addition, we have analyzed Napoli well. We know what kind of match it can be,” says Ajax coach Alfred Scream ahead.

No catenaccio

Schreuder especially watches for the un-Italian game that the leader of the Serie A plays. “Napoli has not been playing the old-fashioned catenaccio that we are used to from Italian teams for some time. They are very strong on the ball and play forward with a lot of pressure. We share that view of the game. Tomorrow will therefore be a very nice football fight.”

Steven Berghuis has been struggling with back problems since the international match, but seems ready for a basic place. “My lower back was fully treated last week. Unfortunately I wasn’t fit enough to start against Go Ahead Eagles in the base, but it’s going in the right direction.” Ajax also has an almost fit selection. Only Ahmetcan Kaplan and Jorge Sánchez are injured.

Ajax will play against Napoli tomorrow evening at 9 p.m. in the Johan Cruijff Arena. The Italians lead Group A with six points after two games. Liverpool are second with three points, followed by Ajax with the same number of points.
