Ajax will return from training camp as soon as possible, the club reports via the official channels. Due to a number of positive corona tests, the club feels forced to return home from the Portuguese Alvarve.
“In the group of more than sixty people, consisting of players and staff members, everyone had a negative test result. These tests were taken shortly before departure to Portugal,” the club reports. The club does not want to say how many positive tests it concerns and who it concerns. Ajax has immediately placed the persons concerned in quarantine.
With a view to the first competition match after the winter break, Ajax does not want to take any risks. On Sunday, January 16, the team from Amsterdam will play against FC Utrecht. Therefore, from a preventive point of view, it was decided to return home on Wednesday.
