According to Federal Economics Minister Katherina Reiche, the aircraft manufacturer Airbus has received a large order from the United Arab Emirates.
The CDU politician said in Abu Dhabi that she had spoken to the Minister of Economic Affairs and Tourism on the sidelines of the Dubai Air Show. Airbus has received an order for 100 A321neo aircraft from the airline FlyDubai. Reiche spoke of a huge order, especially for the plant in Hamburg. “This is how we secure jobs in Germany and show what a German company and what German technology can do.” The Bloomberg news agency had already reported from circles about an upcoming major order from the Gulf.
Reiche set off on Sunday for a multi-day trip to the Gulf region. The partnership with the Emirates is designed for the long term, she said. The United Arab Emirates is a reliable and strong partner that relies on modern technologies, is financially strong and values Germany as a partner. After talks in the United Arab Emirates, Reiche will fly to Qatar on Tuesday evening.
In after-hours trading on Tradegate, the Airbus share temporarily traded at 206.95 euros, only 0.07 percent below its XETRA closing.
