Airbus share gains: Airbus in August with fewer deliveries – cancellation of Qatar order

In the past month, 39 commercial aircraft found their way to customers, as the DAX group announced on Thursday evening in Toulouse. In July Airbus had handed over 46 commercial jets to its customers, in June even 60 pieces. In the first eight months, the manufacturer has delivered 382 machines. That’s just a little more than half of the 700 jets that CEO Guillaume Faury named as the new delivery target for the current year at the end of July.

The delivery figures usually pick up significantly towards the end of the year. However, Airbus had to say goodbye to the 720 deliveries originally targeted for 2022 due to problems in the supply chains.

The group did not take in any new orders in August. Meanwhile, the group canceled the last remaining order for 19 wide-body A350s from Arab airline Qatar Airways. According to industry circles, the manufacturer has terminated the contract with its major customer after months of public disputes due to damage to the surface of several machines in the series.

Qatar Airways sued the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer in London in December for damages due to the defects and publicly described them as a safety problem. However, Airbus and the European aviation authority Easa judged the matter differently. The manufacturer offered to repair the damage at its own expense, but Qatar Airways declined. Airbus had already canceled an order from the Arabs for 50 medium-haul A321neo jets in January.

Goldman leaves Airbus on “buy” – target 145 euros

The US investment bank Goldman Sachs has left Airbus’ rating at “buy” with a price target of 145 euros. August deliveries were below the historical trend, analyst Daniela Costa wrote in a study published on Friday. The aircraft manufacturer is picking up speed more slowly than hoped.

The Airbus share can temporarily post gains of 0.41 percent to 96.65 euros in XETRA trading.
