The accelerated advance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a promise for the future, but rather an everyday reality that raises urgent ethical dilemmas. Faced with this scenario, the Argentine Institute of Artificial Intelligence (INARIA) and the ArgenIA Foundation They sealed a key strategic alliance in the country. The agreement, signed by Fabian Ruoccoexecutive director of INARIA, and Hugo Guerrieripresident of the ArgenIA Foundation, seeks to promote ethical, responsible technological development with social impact, taking the global guidelines of the Pope Francis.
The initiative is based on a historical milestone. During his participation at the G7 summit in Apulia, Italy, the Supreme Pontiff gave a speech that marked a turning point worldwide. Francis described AI as a tool “fascinating and terrifying”and launched a central concept for the future of humanity: “algoretics” (ethics applied to algorithms).
The Pope was blunt in warning that AI is neither neutral nor objective, since it inevitably incorporates the worldviews of its creators. In that sense, he demanded constant human supervision to protect people’s dignity, warning that — although there are enormous opportunities in medicine and culture — the uncontrolled use of algorithms can deepen social inequalities and consolidate the “throwaway culture.”
The actors behind the agreement. To face this challenge at the local level, the agreement unites the leadership and trajectories of two leading organizations in the sector:
- INARIA: Under the direction of Fabian Ruoccothe entity is widely recognized for promoting the Awards for Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable AIthe highest award in Argentina that distinguishes companies, startups, universities and public organizations that transform the productive matrix, optimize public management and promote environmental sustainability.
- ArgenIA Foundation: Chaired by Hugo Guerrieriis focused on closing the country’s technological gaps through education and coordination between the public, private and academic sectors, guaranteeing that technology is always at the service of human development.
“Technology should be a bridge, never a barrier. We sign this agreement convinced that innovation is only real progress if it respects human dignity and takes care of our environment,” he stressed. Hugo Guerrieri after signing the agreement.
For its part, Fabian Ruocco He emphasized the role of local organizations in the face of this challenge: “We cannot be neutral spectators of the advance of algorithms. With this alliance, and through initiatives such as our awards and university diplomas, we seek to encourage companies and the public sector to develop tools that follow a true ‘algoretics’ applied to good.”
Through this signature, both directors launch a strong call to action for local companies and organizations to redirect their technological capabilities. Ruocco and Guerrieri’s ultimate goal is to ensure that Artificial Intelligence becomes an engine of positive change with triple impact, always prioritizing the common good.
