You will find silver rounds on the streets in various places in the city. What is the function of these ‘punches’ and where can you spot them?

You can see the metal discs on Stadhuisplein in the Stadshart, among other places. They resemble measuring nails that surveyors use to check property boundaries, among other things. The big difference with the other discs: the measuring nails are often provided with the word ‘measuring point’.
Mark with thumbtacks
These metal pins may be small, but they carry big responsibilities. These are marking nails. According to the company Van Wylick Road surface reflectors the discs can be used, among other things, for marking parking spaces, indicating routes in pedestrian and shopping areas or marking cycle paths.
You can find the marking nails in several places in the Netherlands. Sometimes they are decorated with a print or engraving, for example with a symbol of a bicycle or a company logo. In Zoetermeer the slices are mainly even.
