Better late than never: Marieke Elsinga is put out of her misery by RTL 4. The channel takes her TV monstrosity off the tube early. “It’s not doing what we hoped it would.”
According to Tina Nijkamp, it is the biggest RTL 4 flop of the past fifteen years: Alles is Muziek, in which Marieke Elsinga made her debut as showmaster. Critics have been amazed for weeks that this show will remain on the tube, because it is not only harmful to Marieke, but also to the participating Dutch celebrities and the medium of television in general.
Mary of the tube
Tina came to her this afternoon opinion channel with the scoop that Alles is Muziek is removed from the tube. Her stories are closely monitored and AD was there like the chickens to get confirmation from RTL and to present this as its own scoop, without reference to Tina.
The RTL spokesperson: “It is true that Alles is Muziek has been removed from the schedule. We regularly try out new programs and it is always a pity if a program does not do what we had hoped. Saturday 13 May is the last episode.”
Thrown away
We get to see Marieke and her musical fair one more time. The last three episodes are being shredded. “I think it’s a good move by RTL 4,” says Tina. “Too painful, too harmful for Marieke Elsinga in particular, but also for Jeroen van Koningsbrugge to continue with this for weeks.”
What does Rob Goossens, the TV connoisseur of RTL Boulevard think of it? He tweets: “Ai.”
Wrongly advised
How is it possible that Marieke even said yes to this show? Tina tells New Rev: “I think she was wrongly advised. Do you know what managers cost these days? For that fee, her manager could have put a stop to this. You should not put a new presenter with little experience on a new format.”
That is doubly uncomfortable, says Tina. “She was the first big show of her own proven format, a program that has already proven itself. New formats fail more often than proven formats. It is nice about RTL that they try many new things, but you should not put a starting presenter like Marieke on that.”
