‘Aggressive and agile’ Kristijan Belić must give AZ new impetus

The day after the cup win over Quick Boys (3-3 win after penalties), AZ presented its second winter acquisition. Kristijan Belić comes over from Partizan Belgrade and signs until mid-2028. The 22-year-old Serbian youth international must provide the midfield with a quality injection.

Belić was born in Sint-Truiden (Belgium), where his father played as a goalkeeper. In youth he played for OFK Beograd, West Ham United and Olympiacos. He made his debut in Greece, but played only one match. As a result, he returned to Serbia to play for FK Čukarički. After one season he was recruited by Partizan, where he played 55 games in the main squad. Belić is also a youth international of Serbia.

“I am very happy to be here,” the Serbian said on the AZ website. “When I saw the stadium, I was speechless. It’s great. After we entered the winter break in Serbia in December, the talks with AZ started. It’s a great club for the next step in my career and I hope to create something great here The stadium is beautiful and the fans are great too. I’m almost back in my native country now, just next to it.”

Aggressiveness

After the departure of Djordje Mihailovic and the loan of Kenzo Goudmijn, AZ needed a new midfielder. Max Huiberts, director of football affairs at AZ, was looking for a type like Belic. “He is a boy who moves a lot, runs a lot, can easily find his way with the ball, has aggressiveness in his game and does not shy away from duels. This was a position that we wanted to fill and we are therefore very happy that Kristijan is here.”

AZ will play against PEC Zwolle in the Premier League on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. The Alkmaarders are currently in fourth place.
