Agents pelted with glass in disturbances around RKC-PEC relegation duel

Agents were pelted with glass around the RKC Waalwijk-PEC Zwolle football match on Saturday evening. They would also have been spat on, police unions report.

A police spokesperson said that a fight broke out between supporters in the stadium and that it was also unsettled outside the stadium with a group of Belgian supporters. “That’s why extra police were deployed.”

No arrests
No arrests have been made. “As far as we know, no one was injured,” the spokesperson said. Someone did become unwell. An ambulance was called for them.

RKC lost the relegation cracker against PEC Zwolle 2-0. As a result, relegation concerns are increasing in Waalwijk. RKC still occupies fourteenth place, but the gap with PEC Zwolle – which rose to third place from the bottom after the win on Saturday evening – is only two points. Number 15 Fortuna Sittard can climb over RKC in the rankings on Sunday afternoon, if Sjors Ultee’s team beats Go Ahead Eagles.
