Currently, the public lighting in Harelbeke goes out at 11 pm and only again at 6 o’clock in the morning. Soon the lighting in darkness will be completely taken on. “From 8 pm the light intensity drops to 75 percent and stairs to 30 percent to rise again to 100 percent by the morning. This is how we hope to strengthen the sense of safety,” says ships Thomas Guillemyn.
The city works for this with dim programs, an investment of 14,300 euros. “That way we have no rise in the energy cost,” it sounds. Harelbeke has a total of 5164 light points. Already 81 percent have been transformed into energy -efficient lighting.
