After almost three years, the ban on the publication of daily viewing figures has been lifted again. And that means more peace for TV authority Tina Nijkamp. “This saves an hour a day.”
Until the summer of 2023, it was a daily practice in the media world: just check the viewing figures from the night before on Kijkonderzoek.nl. However, this came to an abrupt end, because the TV bosses — read: Peter van der Vorst — were disappointed that the declining viewing figures were so accessible to the general public and the showbiz media.
Viewing figures back
Tina Nijkamp, together with thousands of TV professionals, did have access to the linear figures and continues to publish them to this day. This will no longer be necessary from April 7, because the figures from the night before will then be visible again via the updated website. NMOdata. A second publication will follow a week later, including delayed viewing.
Why are the viewing figures published again? NMO director Patricia Sonius: “The market is now very aware of the difference between provisional figures and final figures. We assume that everyone realizes that conclusions based on provisional viewing figures are premature.”
Rest for Tina
For Tina it means that she will be a lot calmer from April onwards. She will publish the viewing figures every day for 1,400 days next Wednesday, including now on her skiing holiday. “Finally stop with that childish stuff, everything is back to normal and not so shady mysteriously,” she writes on her analysis channel.
What will she do with all her free time? “Haha, it does indeed save me an hour of typing a day! But just like now, I will continue to analyze the viewing figures every morning.”
