“Here is a very happy man,” beams chairman Peter Wieringa. “It took a very long time (more than ten years, ed.) before we could take this step. We are not done yet, we still have a few obstacles to overcome, but it is very tangible proof for us that we can go.”
The board of the hockey club wants to move as quickly as possible to the Het Fortuin sports complex in Zaandijk, on the site next to the police station. In August 2021, quite a few trees were already cut down for this purpose, up to… great sadness of nature lovers.

That may have slowed things down, but it didn’t stop them. There are still some final struggles, the chairman says, but the judge has allowed construction to begin. The club did not say this twice.
