The Heerhugowaarder retired on April 18. “A day later my wife dropped me off in Pieterburen. After that I walked for 26 days in a row. 20 kilometers or more every day.”
He wanted to walk the monster march of 557 kilometers to raise money. “My friend Atze died of MS at the age of 44. We named our eldest son after him and thanks to him I met my wife. He is forever in my heart.”
‘We are well on our way’
Jan is trying to raise 5,000 euros, the score is now 3,400 euros. “We are well on our way,” he says with satisfaction. “I thought: I will also raise money in Alkmaar.” He hands out forms for people to scan the QR code.
During De 4 van Alkmaar he runs 20 kilometers four times. “That’s going well. The kilometers are still in my legs.”
