Football Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim mourns the loss of long-time media director Christian Frommert. The ex-media chief of the Radsport team Telekom succumbed to the consequences of cancer.
Christian Frommert, who was also head of communication at the Telekom cycling team around ex-star Jan Ullrich, died on Tuesday shortly after his 58th birthday after a serious illness. The association announced this on Wednesday.
In March 2013, the long -time patron and today’s partner Dietmar Hopp brought him to the Kraichgau. Frommert’s death triggered great dismay in the club. “We have lost a person who worked for TSG Hoffenheim with the greatest commitment and tireless passion,” said Hopp in a club announcement.
Frommert had tackled the fight against the serious illness with great determination according to the association. “His death tears a big gap,” said the chairman of the management, Markus Schütz. Frommert has steadily pushed the development of the TSG at all levels without ever pushing itself into the foreground.
Jan Ullrich shocked by Cancer
Frommert had made his cancer public last summer. His old companion Ullrich had dismayed at the time, but also reacted optimistically and offered him support. Both once worked together at Team Telekom, in which Frommert was head of sponsoring communication at T-Mobile International and Deutsche Telekom AG between 2005 and 2008.
It was also he who moderated the suspension of Ullrich in 2006 because of his doping scandal in his function as head of communication. After his farewell at the end of 2008, the native of Worms became self -employed as a communication consultant before he went to the TSG.
Pious published Book of anorexia
Frommert had made a name for himself as a book author more than ten years ago. In his work “Then eat something! My anorexia-how I fought-how I survive” he dealt with his own anorexia.
