After the gold coup of German women at the Biathlon European Championship in Martell, the DSV men’s relay also won the hoped-for medal on Sunday afternoon.
At the finish line, the German quartet with Lucas Fratzscher, Simon Kaiser, Roman Rees and David Zobel only had to give itself to the practically invincible Norwegians.
The dominators in the second -class IBU Cup only needed a single relief with 40 shots and distanced the competition by minutes.
The German biathlon men (12 aftermath, 1 penalty round) ultimately finished 2: 06.9 minutes behind the quartet from Norway after 4×7.5 kilometers. Bronze secured the contingent from France (17 relegates, 2 penalty rounds/+2: 36.2 minutes).
Unlike the Norwegians, Rees and Co. experienced a race with many setbacks. Already in the second attack, the start runner Lucas Fratzscher shot a penalty round.
Good record at the biathlon European Championship
Before moving to Roman Rees, Simon Kaiser fell in the transition zone. The 25-year-old had to get up after his abdominal gossip before he could clap the teammate.
After that, Rees hardly gave it any better. The right stick broke the right stick after his first shooting. Until he was at hand, he fought his way across the track.
For the German team, the silver medal in the season was the fourth precious metal in the title fights in South Tyrol. Previously, Stefanie Scherer, Anna Weidel, Marlene Fichtner and Johanna Puff had won the second German gold medal at the end of the women’s competitions.
The women’s relay won the favorite French women (+22.3/1+11 errors) and Italy (+41.4/1+9 errors) surprisingly EM gold.
Puff had already won the title at the start of the competitions. Fichtner secured silver in the same race and thus ensured a German double success.
