After the hard foul by Munich’s Luis Diaz, Paris St. Germain fears a serious injury to Achraf Hakimi. Both teams have déjà vu.
This time Paris Saint-Germain got it badly when they met FC Bayern Munich again. Achraf Hakimi limped out of the Prinzenpark Stadium on crutches and with a special shoe on his left foot after the defending champions’ 2-1 defeat in the Champions League against the German soccer record champions – and on his 27th birthday.
“The most important thing is that we really hope that Hakimi gets better quickly“, said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany after the game. This wish, which was not only expressed by Kompany, will probably not come true after the serious foul by Bayern striker Luis Diaz, who was only shown a red card by the referee after viewing the video images. According to initial estimates, ex-Dortmunder Hakimi will be out for a long time.
Parallels to Donnarumma vs Musiala
“Football is a contact sport. It’s a shame for Hakimi,” said PSG coach Luis Enrique. Like Kompany, he recalled Bayern’s reverse experience with Jamal Musiala after the game. The Munich international seriously injured his left leg in the lost quarter-final against PSG in Atlanta at the Club World Cup four months ago.
The then PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma fell fully on Musiala’s leg during an intense collision. The 22-year-old still can’t play again. Joshua Kimmich also drew parallels. “It’s a tough start where you don’t actually want to hurt the other person, but unfortunately things like that happen in football.”
Kompany defended Luis Díaz. “He’s a very honest boy. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone.” The Bayern coach tried to explain the overzealous action. “The whole game is played at the highest intensity.”

PSG is also worried about Dembélé again
The Champions League winner is not only worried about Hakimi, but also again about star striker Ousmane Dembélé. The Frenchman was injured in his thigh for a long time at the start of the season. He had problems again before the Bayern game, but was still somewhat surprisingly in the starting line-up.
But the Ballon d’Or winner wasn’t on the pitch for long. Shortly after a goal was disallowed for offside (22nd minute), the striker was limping more and more. And after just 25 minutes it was over for him. Dembélé walked to the sideline and disappeared into the locker room.
“We will have to wait until tomorrow to see the test results and determine the extent of the injuries,” Enrique said at the post-match press conference. “But Ousmane’s injury has nothing to do with his last one.”
