After miscarriage: Astroworld visitor sues Travis Scott and Live Nation

Astroworld festival-goer Shanazia Williamson is suing Travis Scott and Astroworld festival organizer Live Nation for negligently killing her unborn child. Williamson claims the injuries she sustained at the festival in November resulted in a miscarriage.

Ten dead and thousands injured

After a stampede during Travis Scott’s performance, ten people died at the Astroworld festival on November 5, 2021. In addition, more than 4,900 people are said to have been injured, according to a recent lawsuit. Hundreds of lawsuits were filed against Travis Scott and the organizer just after the FBI created a website for those affected.

According to the lawsuit, Williamson alleges that Travis Scott and Live Nation’s failure to plan and oversee the Astroworld festival was a direct and proximate cause of their injuries and the death of their unborn child. She claims she sustained injuries to her shoulder, back, chest and leg when she was trampled by the crowd. This eventually led to the miscarriage.

Williamson filed the lawsuit shortly after the November 5 festival. About six weeks later, she added “negligent homicide” to the lawsuit.

It is unclear how far along the pregnancy was. However, according to Texas law, it doesn’t matter what month of pregnancy she was in — Williamson could succeed in her lawsuit.
