Former HSV loan player Tommy Doyle is moving on. The 20-year-old midfielder joins – once again temporarily – Championship club Sheffield United for the new season. The Englishman is under contract with Manchester City until 2025. After an unsatisfactory loan spell in Hamburg with just 150 minutes in the first half of 2021/22, Doyle made 19 appearances (one goal, three assists) for Cardiff City.
He is the first new signing at Sheffield, who want to have prevailed against the league competition in the campaign for the junior international. “I got the call that Sheffield United are interested and it’s hard to say no to a club like this,” Doyle said.
