After leaving Rapid Vienna: Kevin Wimmer moves on to Slovan Bratislava

Kasius goes too

This article first appeared on June 6 at 11:07 a.m. and was updated following the announcement of Wimmer’s new club.

After record champions Rapid Vienna announced the first departures two weeks ago, two more players have now been dismissed: The expiring contracts of defenders Kevin Wimmer and Denso Kasius will not be extended. The 30-year-old ex-national player Wimmer came to Hütteldorf in 2021 and was never really able to establish himself in the central defense of the Viennese. In the past season he played in 20 competitive games.

Update June 8, 6:29 p.m.: After leaving Vienna, Wimmer moves to Slovan Bratislava. He signed a contract with the Slovakian club until 2026.

Right-back Kasius, on the other hand, only came to the capital on loan from FC Bologna in January, Rapid has now waived a permanent commitment. The Dutchman played a total of twelve games for the Green-Whites.

“I would like to thank both players for their dedication and commitment and wish them all the best for their future careers. Kevin Wimmer was a valuable part of our team, always worked for the team even in difficult phases when he wasn’t playing and stayed positive. The signing of Denso Kasius was urgently needed in the winter due to the personnel situation and he has repeatedly shown his undoubted potential,” said sporting director Markuskatzer.
