OGC Nice is apparently trying to land a coup on the transfer market. As the local newspaper “Nice-Matinreported, President Jean-Pierre Rivère would like to sign Edinson Cavani. After the end of his contract with Manchester United, the 35-year-old attacker is available on a free transfer and would bring a lot of experience with him.
In all, the Uruguay international has made 615 appearances since moving to Europe in 2007, scoring 360 goals. Ligue 1 would also not be new territory for the center forward. From 2013 to 2020 he was active for Paris Saint-Germain, where he is the top scorer in club history with 200 goals. Overall, it would be his sixth professional stop.
However, the undertaking of signing Cavani should not be easy. In addition to Nice, who recently returned to Lucien Favre’s management, the right-footed player is said to have attracted the interest of numerous other clubs such as FC Valencia, Rayo Vallecano, US Salernitana, FC Villarreal and FC Elche.
Isco, Dembélé & Co.: The most valuable free players
However, OGC President Rivère has proven in the past that he can convince big names. For example, he has already attracted Hatem Ben Arfa (2015/16, previously without a club) and Mario Balotelli (2016/17 free transfer from Liverpool FC) to the Côte d’Azur.
