‘Huge dull blow’
Jan, who lives right next to the burnt -out chalet, saw it all happen. “I was in the garden, just fifteen meters from the chalet,” he said on Friday. He heard a huge dull blow, followed by a pressure wave that caused the windows of his house to vibrate: “As a result, I immediately suspected that it was a gas explosion.”

The fire broke out immediately after the explosion and the flames grabbed very fast. “Within half a minute, the flames continued in the tops of the dead trees around the chalet. It went so fast.”
