The Dutch women’s team suffered a major setback on Tuesday evening. Captain Vivianne Miedema has tested positive for corona reports the KNVB† Midfielder Jackie Groenen already tested positive on Sunday. Both players are in isolation and will miss the match against Portugal next Wednesday. As soon as they are free of complaints and test negative, they can rejoin the selection, according to the KNVB.

The selection is not only thinning due to corona. The Orange ladies saw keeper Sari van Veenendaal drop out with a shoulder injury. She will no longer be in action this European Championship. The Dutch national team started the European Football Championship in England on Saturday with a draw against Sweden. On Wednesday evening it will play against Portugal in Leigh. The last group match against Switzerland is scheduled for Sunday.
