Striking news: precisely in the week that there is a fuss about the ‘senile’ Patricia Paay, it becomes clear that she and her daughter Christina Curry will have their own real-life soap at RTL. “It has been confirmed.”

Patricia Paay came under heavy fire this week by Evert Santegoeds. The Private Boss published a long article in De Telegraaf in which he portrayed her as a senile, almost demented old woman who can no longer sort it all out. The reason? Some cheap commercial that daughter Christina Curry posted online.

Very brutal

We see Christina and Patricia in a poorly acted video promoting some kind of duvet. Daughter does the voice-over, mother is only seen shuffling past and looking absently into the camera. Evert’s conclusion? Dementia.

Christina is furious that her mother is being portrayed in this way in one of the largest newspapers in the country. She calls it ‘brutal’. “That our video for Zelesta is used as so-called ‘proof’ that my mother is absent or decrepit? You are deeply ashamed.”

Own soap

Shortly after this commotion it suddenly becomes clear that Christina and Patricia will have their own soap at RTL. Celebrity soaps are suddenly all the rage and, just like with André Hazes Jr., it will probably be a combination of RTL 5 and Videoland. “When asked, RTL confirms the arrival of the new real-life series,” it reports A.D.

The question is to what extent the Paay and Curry soap will be interesting for the viewer. It is common knowledge that the diva, who is struggling with health problems, hardly leaves her chair anymore, so what will we see next? A lively soap opera or a disguised Prominent advertisement? Time will tell…
