After five months, a lead to missing Natacha de Crombrugghe in Peru? “Police search house where she allegedly partied several hours before disappearance” | Abroad

There may be a lead in the disappearance case of Natacha de Crombrugghe in Peru. The police are going to search a house where our compatriot is said to have partied just hours before her disappearance. According to several witnesses, her body could be there, reports the Peruvian press. Among other things, there will be tested for hidden traces of blood. Natacha has been missing for over five months now.

The Brussels woman disappeared on January 24 during a trek in Peru. For a while she went out with a group of backpackers, but when she set course for Colombia, Natacha first wanted to check the Colca Canyon off her list (one of the deepest canyons in the world; ed.). The young woman was left to herself, but didn’t care. She spoke quite a bit of Spanish and would pull herself together.

Bad cell phone reception

On January 24, she arrived in the dingy town of Cabanaconde, the starting point of most canyon hikes. There she was last seen alive. Since Natacha had indicated that she had poor cell phone reception in the canyon, no one was initially concerned and she was not reported missing until February 3.

From that moment on, the Peruvian authorities deployed a lot of resources to find Natacha. Mountain guides, agents and many volunteers scoured more than 190 kilometers of hiking trails for 50 days.

Reward for golden tip

Belgian investigators were also called in for telephone and laptop investigations. After five days, however, the conclusion remained that Natacha had sent her last message on January 23 at 5:23 PM. Afterwards, the connection was permanently broken.

In February and April, Natacha’s parents went to Peru to follow the search closely. They offered a reward of 15,000 dollars (14,370 euros) for the golden tip, but so far this has not been forthcoming.
