Dutch supermarkets are working on emergency plans so that they are prepared for crisis situations, such as war. Things are not going that fast in our country. Are we perhaps too lax or the Dutch too cautious? And why is it that the Netherlands responds so differently to a possible Russian threat? “It has to do with cultural differences. Belgians have very creative escape routes to achieve their goals,” says Evert van Wijk, a Dutchman who has lived in Belgium for 35 years.
