After Coman injury: FC Bayern is rethinking transfer plans

After Kingsley Coman’s serious injury, FC Bayern could bring in offensive reinforcements this winter.

In the game against FC Augsburg (3:2), Coman tore an inner ligament in his knee and will therefore be out for several weeks for the Munich team.

The French winger joins numerous injuries who are currently out at FC Bayern.

The Munich team had to do without Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer (both muscle injuries) as well as Joshua Kimmich (shoulder) in Augsburg. In addition, the long-term injured Serge Gnabry (muscle tendon injury in the left adductor area), Bouna Sarr (torn cruciate ligament) and Daniel Peretz (inner ligament injury in the right knee) are still missing.

Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui are also currently not in the squad as they are taking part in the continental championships with their national teams.

After Coman’s injury, sporting director Christoph Freund did not rule out FC Bayern becoming active on the transfer market again. “Not much can happen anymore, that’s clear,” said the 46-year-old after the Augsburg victory and added: “We have good quality players, but a lot of them are also out.”

The 46-year-old emphasized that the transfer planning for the winter had actually been completed. Now the transfer plans may be reconsidered.

FC Bayern: Is Zaragoza coming in winter?

A possible Coman replacement would be Bryan Zaragoza from Granada FC. The Spaniard is moving to FC Bayern in the summer for 13 million euros. According to “Sky”, however, it is impossible for the 22-year-old to come to Munich earlier.

“In discussions with those responsible, I explained that I wanted the move, but that I would like to stay in Granada until the end of the season. Because this is the club I love,” Zaragoza emphasized at the beginning of January.

With Eric Dier, who was on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, and Sacha Boey, for whom official confirmation is still pending, FC Bayern have already signed two new signings this winter.

“It is our wish to sign him. It is almost clear, I think. But the doctor’s check has not been done yet and therefore there is nothing to announce,” said coach Thomas Tuchel, referring to the 23-year-old from Galatasaray said.
