After a year in Salt Lake City: Ex-HSV professional Wood signs with New England Revolution

Former Bundesliga professional Bobby Wood has found a new club in America. On Monday, the forward, who played for Real Salt Lake City last season, signed a one-year contract with New England Revolution. The club also has an option for another season.

New England picked Wood, who played for den , ,, and den in Germany, with the first pick in the second phase of last week’s Major League Soccer re-entry draft. In the re-entry draft, clubs can select players over the age of 22 who are uncontracted. Wood’s working paper was not renewed in Salt Lake City after the past season. The attacker from Hawaii has scored six goals and two assists in 34 competitive games. He has been absent since June due to an adductor injury.

“We are very pleased to welcome Bobby Wood to New England Revolution. I know Bobby very well, having coached him in the national team (2016/17; ed.) and I am very confident that he will be an excellent addition to our attack here in New England,” said coach Bruce Arena.
