After a two-year break: The “Vagabund” is celebrating again

The “Vagabund” was a real nightlife institution – and should be again.

Those who didn’t want to go home in the early hours of the morning always found like-minded people here. But the doors under the distinctive red awnings on Knesebeckstrasse have been closed for two years. After the exit of the former operator threatened the vagabond.

But now Andreas Lanninger (55, “Harry’s New York Bar”) has good news for Berlin’s night owls!

“The Vagabund is my new and my last baby,” says Lanninger to the BZ. “I’m super happy that I’ll soon be able to welcome guests here as the new host. I’m planning the opening for the end of May – with a night of absolute emergency!”

The rooms are currently being completely renovated. The old inventory was disposed of and the floor removed. A friend and business partner of Lanninger’s bought the property. “This secures the future of the vagabond,” says the boss. “And of course the emergency supplies for those who are thirsty until the early morning, for which I personally guarantee. There will be two bar counters again, but everything will be more stylish and modern.”

The terrace should be open from 6 p.m. And from midnight then the interior. With a “hard door” and member brands, Lanninger wants to ensure that the “wrong” guests stay outside. In his last bar – the “Lannis S52” – there was a big drug raid on the farewell evening…

Construction site party with celebrities

Full of anticipation, senior vagabond Lanni was just celebrating a construction site party. The guests (including actress Mariella Ahrens, event restaurateur Hans-Peter Wodarz) were given hard hats and Moet & Chandon made from pink and gold goblets.

Rainer Bernd Krieger, who opened the “Vagabund” in 1969, was also there. Warrior: “I’m so glad that Lanni is taking care of it now, he’s a real vagabond himself!”

For Lanninger, the role of the new “Vagabund” host is an affair of the heart: “It was here 25 years ago that I kissed my ex-wife Susanne, with whom I have two daughters, for the first time. And my ex and I, with whom I was together for ten years, sparked for the first time in ‘Vagabund’.”

He says: “For years, the ‘Vagabund’ was my last port of call on the way home, for me a place of sensational memories!”
